Marumo Gallants, the Bloemfontein-based football club, has confirmed receipt of court documents from rival club Moroka Swallows, filed last Friday.

This development has led the club to refrain from further public commentary as it navigates through the legal matter. In a statement released Monday afternoon, Marumo Gallants expressed respect for the legal process and vowed to allow the matter to proceed through the appropriate judicial channels.

The club underscored their commitment to due process by choosing not to conduct media interviews during this critical period. Notably, despite the ongoing legal entanglement, the club’s management has reassured fans, partners, and stakeholders that operations will continue as normal.

“Our management, technical staff, and players are fully engaged in their preparations and ongoing commitments for the remainder of the season,” the club’s statement indicated.

To foster unity during this challenging period, Marumo Gallants also expressed gratitude to their supporters for their understanding.

“We appreciate the continued support and understanding from our fans and partners,” the club added, highlighting the importance of solidarity in both sport and community.

Looking ahead, Marumo Gallants are preparing for their next match against Durban City on 1 March. With the team focused on performance, players are determined to channel their energy into delivering favourable results as the season progresses.

The legal dispute follows a major transaction in June 2024, when Moroka Swallows sold their top-flight franchise (Betway Premiership status) to Marumo Gallants. The sale agreement, which saw the club sold for a reported R40 million, was approved by the PSL in June 2024, allowing Marumo Gallants to take over with immediate effect for the 2024/25 season.
