Kaizer Chiefs kept their six game unbeaten streak after they drew with Polokwane City 0-0 at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday night. Polokwane City on the other hand go three games unbeaten.
Chiefs escaped by the skin of their teeth after Polokwane almost took the lead in the last 10 minutes of the game, in a dominant display in the second half.
Chiefs almost made the first breakthrough but goal keeper Lindokuhle Mathebula made an early save to keep the visitors off the book.
Mokibelo Ramabu shot in the 28th minute rattled Petersen in the nets, forcing an acrobatic save. Polokwane City looked lethal in the first half, making play after play into the Chiefs half.
The game was still deadlocked after half an hour, with both teams having their chances to attack. Chiefs made a few counter attacks within the 30 minute mark but couldn't string together a sequence of passes to penetrate the defence.
Chiefs had more shots on target and possession but that meant little with the half ending 0-0. Polokwane didn't look like they had a connection between their players. A number of passes where made into open spaces but were left unchallenged. Their defence however looked like a solid unit.
They did well to close down on spaces between their defence as well, leaving little room for chiefs to attack.
The Opening ten minutes of the first half saw the tempo of the game die down a bit. Both teams struggled to get a rhythm going but Chiefs came out the aggressor.
Petersen made another crucial save in the 55th minute after a header by Thabelo Tshikweta almost went in.
Seventy minutes into the match and Polokwane City started applying pressure once again. Lilepo almost came close to scoring from a freekick in the 75th minute but he hit the crossbar.
The closing minutes of the match belonged to Polokwane City, who had control of the match but couldn't find a final touch to convert the goal.
