British adventurer and television presenter Bear Grylls is currently visiting South Africa, and his arrival was warmly welcomed by Springboks captain Siya Kolisi.

Kolisi took to Instagram to share photographs of himself spending time with the renowned survival expert during a meal in Cape Town.

“Only way to welcome Bear Grylls to 🇿🇦 ngenyama! Great to see you, my friend,” Kolisi captioned the post.

The pair enjoyed a feast at The Butcher Shop & Grill, one of Cape Town’s well-known steakhouses.

Kolisi recently relocated to the Mother City, making it the perfect setting to introduce Grylls to South African hospitality and cuisine.

Bear Grylls’ connection to Mzansi

While many fans were excited to see Grylls in South Africa, it is not his first visit to the country.

In 2016, he filmed an episode of the hit survival series "Running Wild with Bear Grylls" in the South African savannah featuring actress and dancer Julianne Hough.

The episode showcased survival challenges and highlighted the country’s spectacular wilderness.

Grylls has also expanded his survival training initiatives across Africa.

Through partnerships with private game reserves, he has offered survival courses teaching essential wilderness skills, including navigation, shelter building and foraging techniques.

Who is Bear Grylls?

Grylls is a British adventurer, television presenter, author and former member of the United Kingdom’s Special Air Service (SAS).

He rose to international fame as the host of "Man vs. Wild" (also known as "Born Survivor"), a programme that showcased extreme survival techniques in some of the world’s harshest environments.

Beyond television, Grylls is a bestselling author and motivational speaker. He is also known for an extraordinary personal achievement: becoming one of the youngest people to summit Mount Everest at the age of 23, just months after recovering from a near-fatal parachuting accident that left him with a broken back.

His latest visit to South Africa has sparked speculation among fans that a future collaboration with Kolisi could be on the cards, with many hoping to see the Springboks captain appear on "Running Wild with Bear Grylls".
