As excitement builds around Bafana Bafana's road to the 2026 Fifa World Cup, South Africans are debating who deserves a place in the starting line-up.

While football fans continue to discuss tactics and formations, one content creator has gone viral for offering a very different kind of team sheet.

TikTok creator Okami Blackwolf recently shared his own version of a World Cup squad, replacing footballers with some of South Africa's most recognised personalities and stereotypes.

The result left many social media users laughing.

"This is my non-footballing Bafana Bafana squad for a World Cup," he joked at the start of the video.

For the goalkeeper, he selected Tyla fans, explaining, "As we've seen over the last few years, we will go to war for her."

His defence was equally unconventional. At left back and right back, he chose Hilux drivers and taxi drivers.

"They need to be strong and fast. They need to be bombing down the line, up and down, without giving a s*** about anyone else," he joked.

For his centre backs, he picked EFF supporters alongside a boerboel dog.

"We need aggressive defence and also a boerboel because who's gonna mess with a boerboel," he said.

The defensive midfield role went to Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, whom he described as someone capable of taking charge of the team.

"We need someone who's gonna be aggressive, who's gonna take control of everyone around him and be a no-nonsense general."

Moving into midfield, he selected Black Label drinkers for the number eight position.

"This position requires someone who has an engine, who can go the whole 90 and then also is cool under pressure and allows everyone else to play and have a good time."

The creative role behind the striker was reserved for sangomas.

"This is where we need the magic. Someone is gonna make something unbelievable happen."

On the wings, he turned to two groups often at the centre of social media jokes.

For the left wing position, BMW drivers got the nod.

"This requires someone who is a little bit flashy, likes to show off very quickly and when they see a target, they usually score, if you know what I mean."

Meanwhile, groovers occupied the right-wing role.

"Someone who's a little bit creative can cause chaos in the opposition's box and just make things happen."

His striker selection perhaps earned the biggest laughs. According to Blackwolf, Polo drivers have exactly the qualities needed to lead the attack.

"It's similar to the BMW drivers where if they see a target, they shoot their shot, but the difference with Polo drivers is they shoot their shot at anything with a heartbeat, and that's exactly what you need from a striker."

Confident in his unusual squad, he ended the video by declaring, "This is my alternative Bafana Bafana line-up, and I think this would win it all."

While Hugo Broos and his technical team will stick to selecting actual footballers, South Africans online clearly enjoyed this humorous take on squad selection.

With World Cup excitement continuing to grow, the viral video proved that when it comes to Bafana Bafana, everyone has an opinion and sometimes the funniest ones score the biggest goals.
