Two Treverton College students have been selected to represent South Africa at the upcoming world championships for kayak cross and slalom in Poland.

Jayden Davis and David Dent earned their national call-up after competing at the Africa Championships for kayak cross and slalom held in Underberg over two weekends earlier this year.

“As a result of their excellent performances, they have been selected to represent South Africa at the World Championships to be held in Krakow, Poland, during the July holidays,” the school said in a statement.

The pair will be part of a four-member South African under-18 team competing on the international stage.

“The plan is that they will take part in other training and hopefully another competition on the European circuit to make best use of their time while there and maximize their international exposure to top-level competition,” the statement added.

The school praised both paddlers for their achievement.

“Congratulations to both paddlers on these incredible achievements. We wish them all the best as they prepare for the world stage!”
